Steven Spielberg, three-time Oscar winner, is back in blockbuster territory, and this time, he’s bringing aliens, conspiracies, and serious message about the future of Hollywood itself.
At CinemaCon, Spielberg unveiled a new trailer for his upcoming film ‘Disclosure Day’. It marks a return to big summer spectacle filmmaking after years spent on more personal projects like ‘The Fabelmans’ and ‘West Side Story’. But while the film itself is wrapped in mystery, Spielberg used the spotlight to talk about something bigger than cinema. That is survival.

A warning for Hollywood: Stop relying only on sequels
Beyond aliens and trailers, Spielberg had a blunt message for the film industry.
He stressed that studios like Universal must continue investing in original storytelling rather than depending heavily on sequels, reboots, and established franchises.
“If all we make is known, branded IP, we’re going to run out of gas,” he said after warning that creativity could dry up if Hollywood becomes too dependent on familiar titles.
For Spielberg, cinema survives only when it keeps offering fresh ideas. He insisted that audiences still want original visual stories, no matter the format.
“There is nothing more important than giving the audience visual stories… But we need to tell more original stories,” he added.
